ADSR 6 - Challenge 4

Challenge 4 of the Amazing Digiscrapping Race 6 was hosted by DigiScrapStation. And this challenge was an Intersection Challenge.

For Intersection Challenges both members of the team work together to create one layout. For this challenge, one person was to provide the photos and journaling. The other member of the team was to create the actual layout.

The challenge itself was to create a layout about the travelling family. Here is the challenged as described on DigiScrapStation's site.

Many families in these busy times are always on the go, to games, practices, school, friends and also on vacations. This layout is to be about your family's travels. It can be about the vehicles used to travel, about the locations your family travel to or about the actual travel itself.

For our layout, I provided the photos and the journaling. Michelle put the layout together. And finally, my obsession with taking photos of our Mazda 3 came in handy.

ADSR 6 - Challenge 3

Challenge Three of the Amazing Digiscrapping Race was hosted at Natural Designs in Scrapbooking..  The initial description of the challenge sounded easy enough.  We were to make layouts about our family's play time.  Sounds easy enough.  Here is the first part of the description.

Tell us about your family games, if your family is split and all like to do their own thing,,, tell us what each member of your family likes to do!
You do not need a huge amount of journaling, but remember this layout will be for you, so you need enough to explain what everyone does and why they enjoy it.
You do not need to include a photo unless you want to, the layout of your page is more important than a photo for this challenge.

Sounds easy enough.  That is when things got a little more complicated, because there was a twist.

The plot of your layout should represent the game or games that you play!
For instance, if you're all into playing Monopoly,, your layout should look like a Monopoly board
If you like to play Parcheesi, it should look like a Parcheesi board
If you like playing Baseball, it should look like a baseball pitch
If you like playing Wii, it should look like a TV screen or a game console,,
If you're all quiet readers, your layout should look like a book

My layout did not come together so quickly.  At first, I wanted to put together a hiking/walking trail cause that is often what David and I do on Saturdays.  But that seemed like it was gonna take way more time than I had.  And thanks to an awesome television template provided by Michelle, I came up with another idea and spotlighted our love of Japanese anime.

ADSR 6 - Challenge 2

Michelle and I are busily working on challenges three and four for ADSR 6.  While, we are working hard to finish our layouts.  I wanted to come share with you the layouts we created for Challenge Two.

Challenge Two was hosted by Scrappity-Do-Dah.  This challenge had a few more requirements than the first one.  Here is what was required of our layouts.

1. Choose two background papers, one for the very back and one for the front layer. Re-size the front paper so that the back paper shows through.  Either have the front paper the same size smaller all around or rotate the front paper so the back paper shows through.

2.Choose one photo for your LO and crop it to a 3" by 3" image or about a 900 pixels by 900 pixels image.  Place this either in the center of the page or somewhat off the center if you choose.

3. Use your shape tool to add at least three shapes of ANY shape above your front paper layer
as in a flower, a star, a circle, square or heart or any other shape you wish.  Select the shape on the shape layer with your magic wand tool and delete from the front paper layer to show your background paper layer underneath in the shapes you cut out.  Make sure to add a good shadow to this front paper layer to see the cutouts.

4. Journal about someone in your family that is an inspiration to you.  It May be someone who gave you good advice or someone you look up to.  Journal between 25 and 50 words about this family member.

5. Cluster around your photo and on your page to complete the LO. Add shadowing and a title, with or without an alpha.  Adding a date if you choose to.

We found this challenge almost as hard as the first one.  But I think the final results turned out great!!

ADSR 6 - Challenge 1

The first week of ADSR 6 is almost over. Racers have until tomorrow night to submit layouts for for the first two challenges. Both Michelle and I have already submitted layouts for the first two challenges. Both of Michelle's layouts have been verified, but I am still waiting for my second one to be verified. In the meantime, I wanted to go ahead and share our layouts for the first challenge.

The first challenge took place at Digi Scrap Connect. This is a newer community but I have high hopes for it's future. For this challenge, we were to scrap a layout containing six fun facts about our family. (And fur babies count.) As the first challenge, according to Ripal, this was supposed to be a simple one. After all the requirements were that you have at least one photo and six facts. Sounds simple. Neither Michelle nor I thought it was as simple as it sounded. :O) But that didn't stop us from getting our layouts created.

I suspect by now you are ready to view the layouts. So without further ado, here are our layouts for Challenge One.

Say Hello to Two Funky Chicks

A new Amazing Digiscrapping Race begins on March 27th. The Two Funky Chicks consists of myself and Michelle Batton. We are looking forward to the race. Watch this blog for updates on the race. By the way, there is still time to get a partner and race with us. Just head on over to Natural Designs in Scrapbooking to learn more about ADSR 6. You have until the March 24th to register. If you scroll through the blog, you can see some of the layouts I created in the last two races with my partners Lisa (ADSR 5) and Ginger (ADSR 4). You will get some great layouts created and have a lot of fun at the same time. There is no judging with the Amazing Digiscrapping Race. Every team that competes is entered in the drawing for the grand prize. And for each challenge you complete, there is a prize. I've had a lot of fun the last two years and I highly recommend joining the race.

Challenges 5 & 6

Yes, ADSR5 is almost over and I am so behind.  I feel bad.  I did so good at first.  But I forget sometimes how much time the challenges can take.  But before I am said and done, I will have posted all of the challenges to this blog.  I may not finish until after the race, but I'll get it done.

Challenge 5 was hosted by Pretty Scrappy.  And here are requirements for the challenge as posted by the site.

The requirements for this challenge are fairly simple. Follow the guidelines being as creative as possible using the recipe below. You can incorporate other items into your layout, but you must use at least 6 of the items listed. Since this is the month of Valentine's Day, your special challenge is to incorporate CHOCOLATE into your layout. So, 6 items in the recipe and chocolate!
* 1 ribbon * 1 tree
* 1 button * 1 staple
* 2 papers * 1 set of stitching
* 1 frame * 1 tag
* 1 flower * 1 alpha

This first layout is Roxy's take on the challenge.  As usual, this is a wonderful layout.  And if I could make chocolates that looked like her's, I'd make more of my own. lol

This is my layout.  The chocolates are the Godiva Truffles my hubby gave me for Valentine's day.  Godiva Truffles are so yummy.

This was a fun challenge, because who hates thinking about chocolate?  Definitely not me. lol

Challenge 6 was a roadblock challenge and hosted by Scrappity-Do-Dah.  That meant only one of us had to do the layout.  For this challenge, that person was me.  I can't give the exact description of the challenge, because it has already been deleted.  But it was a recipe challenge where you had to do include specific items in your layout.  Normally, I am a big fan of recipe layouts.  But this one was a little too regimented for my taste.  It was pretty exact for placement, etc.  However, I thought mine turned out okay anyway.

But you know what, that is what a challenge is about. Doing things you would normally not do.  And making the best of it.  I think I did this with challenge six.

Challenge 4

For this challenge we had to create two ATCs each. For those who aren't sure what ATCs are, here is an explanation for you. "Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are 3.5" x 2.5" mini-layouts. They can be horizontal or vertical orientation. They are meant to be light-hearted, humorous, and often have an altered look but that is up to you. They usually have a partial picture and a small amount of text, the rest is decorative. You can use these as Valentines, bookmarks, brag books, badge albums, and so much more. Have fun with it!" (via DigitalScrapbookPages.com) We each had to make one ATC about the one we love and one ATC about our race partner.

I'll be honest, I wasn't too excited about these. However, in the end, I was happy with how mine turned out. Before you get a look at those, lets take a look at the two cards Roxy made. She did a great job with her cards. I especially love the rounded corners.

This first card is about her family. I especially like her use of selective coloring.

Her second card is about me. I really like the way she did the journaling on this one.

Both of these layouts were created using Celebrate Love by Pri Rocha. Now for my cards. This first one is about David. I am sure no one is surprised about this.

My partner Roxy is an aspiring designer, which is why I don't have her kit linked to where you can buy it.  However, I say watch for her designs when they become available.

Challenge 3 - ADSR5

This week's challenge was about selective coloring. For the challenge, your focal photo was to be b&w with selective coloring. In other words, some color from the color version should show through on the b&w version. You also needed to have at least 20 words of journaling.

The first layout is from Roxy. I have to say that I think this was one of the best layouts created for this challenge. I just think it look fantastic.

This layout was created using Waiting for Winter by Kimla Designs, Take Me to the Old World, an After 5 Designs collab and Calandrier 2010 by Opaline

This my layout. What I am happiest about is that I took the time to learn to do it in Gimp rather than using PSE 7. (I started out digiscrapping using Gimp.) What I find funniest is that for last year's race, I also created a layout about David's motorcyle with the title "Dream". Not sure what that says about me.

This layout was created using Lets Ride and Date It tabs by Michelle Batton, plus Taped Dates by 4 Shades of Blue Designs.

Roxy is already done with Challenge 4 and I am half way there, so I should be back in a day or two with our challenge 4 creations.

Challenge 2 - ADSR5

Roxy and I have now completed the second challenge of the Amazing Digiscrapping Race 5. That means we are finished for this week. Yea!!

The second challenge was hosted by the Digital Scrap Artisans Guild. Here are the requirements for the challenge.

Theme: 5 things I LOVE about....(choose a person, topic, idea, etc. Be Creative!) Title: use a combination of 5 fonts and/or alphas (example: use 2 different fonts and 3 different alphas) Photos: use 5 photos, one of the photos must have the number 5 in it! Use 5 different elements of the same type (example: use 5 different flowers or 5 different buttons, etc.)

Season to taste: add ingredients from your digital pantry to make this layout your own!

Roxy is amazing. Her layout has been done since Tuesday. I am still amazed at how fast she scraps. Here is her take on the challenge.

Challenge 1 - ADSR 5

It's a new year and a new race.  This year, my partner is Roxy!  And we just started the race on Sunday.  We are really looking forward to racing and seeing what challenges the race has in store.

Believe it or not, we've already finished our first challenge.  The first challenge was posted at Natural Designs in Scrapbooking.  Here are the rules for the challenge.

1) Your layout is about your partner. Introduce your partner to us. How you do this is entirely up to you. You can interview them, you can send them a questionnaire, you can use 5 words that best describe them, you can journal how you met for this race, or if you've been partners for years, you can make your page about a friendship that started with a crazy internet race and has since turned into so much more. The only rule is, the layout is about your partner and you need to tell us something about them.

2) You must include at least one photo of your partner. Large, small, color, b&w, of their face, back of their head, feet, whatever. But it must be a picture of your partner.

3) You must choose one layout from your partner's gallery and scraplift that as the page design for your layout. Only the placement of items is needed. You don't have to lift the colors, theme, etc. Just the overall placement of papers, elements, title and journaling.

This layout is the layout Roxy created about me.  I think she did a wonderful job.  Such a creative scraplift of my Fun at KSC layout.

This layout was created using Zeste de Fraicheur by Elodie.

This is my layout for the first challenge. For this layout, I scraplifted The World by Roxy.  I think it turned out pretty good.

The layout was created using Just Love and Surround It from Merkeley Designs.

Chall;enges 5 and 6

I just realized how very far behind I am on this blog. So, I am going to do a ocuple of layouts at at time until I catch up.

This is my layout for challenge five. As a part of challenge 5, we couldn't use any pictures. This was the perfect time for me to tell the story of Valentine, the peach-faced lovebird that I got when I first married David. It's a sad story, so you'll have to click on the picture if you want to read the journaling,



This challenge scared me a little. For challenge six one of us, and it was me, had to choose one of our partner's layouts, flip it and then rotate 45 degrees. We then had to use that as a sketch for our layout. I was really worried. But when it was done, I really liked it.



And this is Ginger's layout that I lifted.

Art n Soul Challenge

Challenge 4 was definitely a challenge for me. It was so out of my comfort zone. This challenge was hosted by Tangie Baxter Designs and it was definitely the hardest yet. Here were her requirements.

1. The Art of it: Your LO must have artistic flair! Literally! Your LO must have at least 3 things "artsy" and/or "altered" on it--(such as but not limited to: paint splatters, a paintbrush, paint spills, crayon doodles, goopy glitter, watercolors, canvas AND/OR altered art items such as wings on photos, art dolls, vintage doodads, ephemera, etc). Really stretch yourself and try something "artsy" that you haven't tried before!

2. The Soul of it: You must journal something from your Soul. Something positive, heartfelt and meaningful to you in your life! Something you've learned, something you've gleaned from your life experience. Perhaps something you would want to pass on to the next generation! (It can even be your favorite quote and why it touches/inspires you) Uplift us, make us smile--inspire us! You must share your journaling with us-if it's hard to read or blended into the background-part of the challenge is to share your journaling in your description.

Here is the layout I created. I am having a hard time liking it, cause it is so far out of my comfort zone. But I did work really hard to really make it fit the theme.

Easter Joy II

Here is my layout for challenge 3. The challenge was to redo our first pics uploaded to a gallery. Well my very first layout is still posted at Digital Scrapbook Place, so I redid that layout. Here is my original layout.

This is my redo. I'll have to admit I wasn't very excited about this challenge, cause I was always proud of the way this layout turned out. Especially cause it was my very first layout. However, I think it turned out okay.

Challenge Two Layout

Here is the layout that Ginger and I completed for challenge two. We had a lot of fun working on this. And I think it came together nicely. I especially like the mats Ginger created for the photos I took. I think they really add a special touch to the layout.

Women at work

We're working on challenge 2, now. It's so much fun to work on a layout together. It really makes me feel like part of a team.
And I've never done a use-this-and-that challenge before. Always thought they would be difficult for me. But no, this was a blast! So, you wait and see. Cindy is dressing up the page right now!

Ginger's challenge one LO

ADSR has officially started and we both have already done the first challenge! It was lots of fun. I finally got to use some paper tears from Kami (ziggle designs) I bought some time ago. Ok, here's my (linked) layout:

I already achieved my main goal for ADSR. Learn new things and try out new styles. I've never done a layout like that before. But somehow it was suddenly easy to fit all the pictures into one multi-photo LO. All it needed was a bit of inspiration and motivation.

I can't wait for the next challenge to be announced!

Cindy's Challenge One Layout

Okay, here is my layout for Challenge One. Originally, I didn't pay close enough attention and did not tear the photo in to three parts. I loved the first photo, so it had to stay in the layout. That is why the photo torn in to pieces is the smaller photo. Overall, I am happy with the way this turned out.
